Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.  

Michael Baker, Pastor

My name is Michael Baker and I have been appointed the pastor of Arlington UMC starting October 1, 2019. I graduated from Bethel Seminary and I have an undergraduate degree in psychology. Teaching is my passion and along with preaching, I look forward to meeting the Church Community and diving deeply into Scripture, Christian literature, and current issues.

Lay Leader

As the lay leader for the church, serves in partnership with the pastor, serves as a connection between committees, serves the congregation, and intercedes on the congregations behalf with all governing bodies. The following list gives examples of things the lay leader may be responsible for acting as ushers, making announcements, reading scripture, giving guest preaching sermons, conducting a complete service, congregational advocate and liaison.  

What we believe:

As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life and witness. To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express faithfully the witness we make in our own time. Two considerations are central to this endeavor: the sources from which we derive our theological affirmations and the criteria by which we assess the adequacy of our understanding and witness. Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.
